International Journal of E-Learning and Distance Education

Update From the Editors

We are pleased to share a few brief updates as IJEDE continues to evolve and change.

New Policies

This summer, we introduced a new artificial intelligence policy for the journal, which is available on our website. The policy includes guidance for prospective authors, as well as for editors and reviewers.

We also updated our guidance for authors around bias-free language, following the 7th edition of the American Psychological Association Publication Manual. Ensuring our publications refer to all people with inclusivity and respect and avoid biased language is a key commitment for IJEDE.

Recruiting Peer Reviewers

We are always looking for peer reviewers with expertise in our areas of focus. If you would be interested in peer reviewing for us, please register on our website. Once you have registered, please be sure to fill out the “Roles” tab in your profile so we are aware of your reviewing interests. We would also appreciate an email to journalofde@gmail.com to let us know you have registered.

Editorial Team Changes

We are pleased to announce that Hilary Schmidt has joined us as managing editor. Hilary will focus on the day-to-day operations of the journal, including coordinating peer reviews, managing correspondence, and overseeing the publication process. Dr. Michelle Harrison continues as editor-in-chief, with overall responsibility for the journal’s direction and content. Dr. Diane Janes (formerly co-editor) has retired, and we offer gratitude for her expertise and guidance.

Highlighting Our Human Copyeditor

In these days of increasing generative AI use across academic publishing, we wanted to take a moment to highlight the extraordinary skills of our human copyeditor, Debbie Bateman. Debbie copyedits all English-language IJEDE articles prior to publication, while working closely with authors to ensure their voice and vision remain intact. We only use generative AI tools (such as Copilot) to assist with formatting tables in accordance with APA Style guidelines. All other copyediting functions (such as spelling, grammar, clarity, and organization) are completed without the use of AI tools.

We look forward to continuing to serve our community.

Sincerely,

IJEDE Editors
